Cricketers delight special needs student with visit
Kingstown, St Vincent – West Indies cricketers, led by Captain Chris Gayle, delighted students of the School for Children with Special Needs in Kingstown with a visit organized by Digicel.
Gayle along with Denesh Ramdin, Darren Sammy, Kemar Roach, Adrian Barath and Nikita Miller dropped in on the school after practice and chatted, played and interacted with the students in their classrooms.
Some of the students spent time teaching the players sign language while others demonstrated their proficiency in joinery, art and other subject areas.
The players were overwhelmed by the talents, interest, enthusiasm and skills of the differently abled students.
Digicel also presented the students with 24 tickets to attend the Fourth Digicel One Day International at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex.
Gayle closed off the visit by presenting the school with a bat autographed by the Windies team and an autographed team photo which was received on the school’s behalf by visually impaired student Carl Hooper, who shares his name with the former West Indies captain from Guyana.
Naseem Smith-Williams, Principal of the school, took the players on a brief tour, introduced them to each student and briefed the players on some of the unique activities of the school.
